Pavbhaji Masala

This is a famous street food in India. People make this in different ways. In our home, I make it in the following way. It is a very handy snack when you feel hungry and a tasty filling to your stomach too.

Ingredients

  • Carrot —————————————— 1
  • Green peas ——————————— 1/4 cup
  • Beans —————————————— 1/4 cup
  • Potato —————————————— 1
  • Cabbage ————————————— 1/2 cup
  • Red capsicum —————————– 1/2
  • Onion ——————————————- 1
  • Tomato —————————————- 2
  • Ginger and garlic cube ————— 1
  • Water ——————————————- 1 cup
  • Cooking oil ———————————- 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Spice powders
    • Chili powder ————————– 1/2 tsp
    • Coriander powder —————– 1 1/2 tsp
    • Turmeric powder —————— 1/4 tsp
    • Garam masala powder ——— 1/2 tsp
    • Dry mango powder ————— 1 tbsp

How To Make

  • Cut all the vegetables into big pieces
  • In a pressure cooker add all the vegetables, little salt, turmeric powder and a cup of water
  • Cook for about 20 minutes and switched off the stove and wait for the pressure to release
  • Open the cooker and smash all the vegetables using a potato smasher and keep it aside
  • In the meantime, place a pan on stove in medium heat and add a table spoon of oil
  • Then add the minced onion and cook until onion become soft
  • Now add the tomatoes and saute for around four minutes
  • Then add all the spices except dry mango powder and mix them well
  • Now add the smashed vegetables and cook for about five minutes
  • Finally add the dry mango powder and mix it well and switch off the stove
  • Now it is ready to serve

How To Serve

  • In a wide pan add half teaspoon of ghee and toast the pavbhaji buns
  • Make sandwich with the toasted pavbhaji buns and the masala and enjoy!

Notes:
* If you like, you can add little sev and cilantro in the sandwich
* Red capsicum gives the nice red color to the pavbhaji masala
